Crieve Hall was named after the home of Herbert Farrell, a mansion of grand proportions that was located at what is now Brevity lane and Barrywood drive. Mr Farrell moved to Nashville to marry Helen Richie Cheek and they purchased Overton Hall in 1925 with it’s 433 acres that was originally part of the 3600 acre Travelers rest plantation. After extensive renovation, they renamed the home Crieve Hall after his estate in Crieve County in Northern Ireland. After Mr. Farrell passed away in the late 1940’s, Mrs. Farrell had the contents of the mansion sold at auction, the land sold to developers, and the mansion destroyed.

Crieve hall homes have always been in high demand and as the commute to downtown becomes more difficult and the prices of Green Hills and Brentwood become prohibitave, Crieve hall becomes an obvious choice.
